Genki's racing series returns for the first time in 18 years and it's a perfect Steam Deck game.

Do not be put off by the simplistic-looking graphics of Tokyo Xtreme Racer. This callback to classic racers has unique battle features and a faithfully reproduced Tokyo Expressway in its dynamic twists and elevation changes. This combination can make for hours of fun for fans of the series and new ones alike.

Xtreme Racing & Blazing Performance on Steam Deck

Genki generously dropped off a key for us to test Tokyo Xtreme Racer on Steam Deck and we've loved every minute of it. Even in Early Access, we predict a Verified status shouldn't be too hard to accomplish. In its current state, it's performing better than other games tagged with said status which gives us hope for the game's future.

Adjusting medium settings as you can see in the above video or within our best settings guide, will give us a fun-filled FPS experience with great-looking graphics in parallel. Tokyo Xtreme Racer only supports FSR currently and since we prefer Intel's XeSS in most games we hope to see implementation in the future for more options.

Our settings guide won't see a locked 60 FPS experience because if we do we lose all those great details so we have recommended adjustments to get the best of both worlds. You'll still at worst, be above 40 FPS, but more than likely float around the 50 FPS mark most of the time which provides stable gameplay.
