Spider-Man 2 is finally here but performance has proven unremarkable.
Considering the quality of PlayStation titles brought to PC in the last handful of years you would forgive us for expecting Spider-Man 2 to swing into action with the type of performance we've come to expect. This is probably one of the worst Nixxes Software ports we've come across and not just on Steam Deck, PC gamers are having similar issues we've encountered.
Spider-Man 2 needs more work but is it unplayable? Check out the above video and decide for yourself would be our best recommendation on this. With the help of our recommended settings and FSR 3.10, we can get the best performance possible at this current time.
Without the addition of FSR 3.10 Frame Generation, we struggle to hit 30 FPS using the low graphics preset and balanced upscaling methods on day one. However, if we use these tools to our advantage we can extract a 40-50 FPS experience. There is a glaring downside to using Frame Generation though. It absolutely tanks our battery life to under an hour of expected playtime. Some may argue this takes away the point of having a Steam Deck and some will just plug in and carry on playing.
Overall, Spider-Man 2 needs more work so we would expect a patch to address some issues in the near future.
