Lossless Scaling is now officially available through the Decky Loader store, and it can genuinely double your FPS in a lot of games. If you want a simple way to add frame generation to titles that don’t support it, this setup is worth doing. Here’s a straightforward guide to getting everything installed on your Steam Deck.

Install Decky Loader

  1. Switch the Deck to desktop mode.

  2. Open Firefox or any browser.

  3. Search for Decky Loader and go to the official download page.

  4. Download the installer.

  5. Open Dolphin, head to the Downloads folder and double click the file.

  6. When prompted, choose Execute.

  7. Enter your SUDO PIN or create one if you haven’t before.

  8. Select the latest release and let the script install Decky.

Once the installation is complete, switch back into gaming mode. Open the quick access menu on the right, scroll down, and you’ll now see the Decky Loader tab.

Install the Lossless Scaling Plugin

  1. Open the Decky Loader menu.

  2. Search for the Lossless Scaling plugin listed as Decky LSFG VK.

  3. Install the plugin.

  4. After installation, it will show up in your plugin list inside the Decky menu.

Install the Lossless Scaling App from Steam

The plugin needs the actual Lossless Scaling app to work. It costs around seven dollars on Steam.

  1. Purchase and download Lossless Scaling from the Steam store.

  2. Once installed, open Decky Loader again and confirm that the plugin detects the app.

  3. Install LSFG inside the plugin if prompted.

The plugin includes options such as HDR mode and various scaling features.

Add the Launch Option to Your Game

To enable frame generation for a specific game, you need to copy the launch option provided inside the plugin.

  1. Inside Decky, open the Lossless Scaling plugin.

  2. Tap Copy Launch Option.

  3. Go to the game you want to boost.

  4. Open Properties.

  5. Go to Launch Options.

  6. Paste the copied text into the box.

That’s all you need to do.

Enable Frame Generation in Game

  1. Launch the game normally.

  2. Open the Decky Loader menu in game.

  3. Set the scaling to 2x.

  4. You’ll see your FPS jump, for example from 30 to 60, in the overlay.

This works not only for games without built-in frame generation but can also improve performance in some titles that already support it.

Final Thoughts

Lossless Scaling has been working well on the Deck and is especially handy in games that feel stuck at lower framerates. With Decky Loader handling the plugin side and Steam providing the main app, setup is quick once you know where everything is.

If you rely on steady framerates or want a smoother experience in unsupported titles, it’s worth giving this a spin. Enjoy the extra frames.
