Emulation Just Took Another Blow, and more Steam Deck news!

We've got the latest Steam Deck news roundup. In this post, I'll share some cool updates and news related to gaming on the Steam Deck.

Firstly, Red Dead Redemption 2 just received an impressive update, which includes HDR support and FSR 2.2. This is significant news since the game already runs well on the Steam Deck. I am curious to see how HDR performs on the Steam Deck's OLED screen, and we will be testing it out soon so keep checking back.

Unfortunately, emulation has received another sad blow, with Suyu being taken down due to DMCA takedown. This is disappointing news for Steam Deck users who were using Suyu. However, Ryujinx is still around, and I really hope that Nintendo won't target them next.

From Steam itself, Valve has released a Proton experimental update, which brings some fixes to the Total War series and makes classic EA games playable. It's impressive to see how quickly Valve is fixing these games and making them playable on the Steam Deck.

For those interested in the Earth Defense Force games, a bundle is available now called Earth Defense Force United, which includes a bunch of Earth Defense Force games. I also took a look at two big games that released this week for the Steam Deck - Horizon Forbidden West and Dragon Dogma 2. Horizon Forbidden West runs impressively well on the Steam Deck, with framerates hitting 30 FPS and sometimes even higher. On the other hand, Dragon Dogma 2 really struggles on the Steam Deck, with framerates dropping below 20 FPS, and the graphics look absolutely terrible.

Red Dead Redemption 2's update is great news for Steam Deck users, and Horizon Forbidden West runs quite well. However, for now it's best to stay away from Dragon Dogma 2, which struggles on the Steam Deck and has mostly negative user reviews on PC for the moment.
